If you knew me........

You'd know I:

* Love all the frozen yogurt options, but only ever get Taro with granola & almonds

* Would schedule a masseuse to come to my home every week if I was rich

* Go to the books first, then the linens when thrifting

* Have nothing good to say about pregnancy

* Go by Marie Mitchell Wallwork

* Have 6 brothers

* Could watch 'Shawshank Redemption' over & over

* Can run 6 miles pretty fast, but am constantly asking my kids to retrieve things around the house because I am so lazy

* Got sucked into a 'Teen Mom 2' marathon last weekend and overnight I feel like the most awesome mom (and wife, & human being)

* Think I am not one of those people who goes overboard and gains 10 lbs over the holidays.  I totally am.

* Could never in a million years sew these adorable stockings.  My sewing machine is apparently for the kids to play with as I've realized sewing is way (way, way, way) out of my league.

I am not crafty and alas I cannot perform Christmas miracles.  The kids stockings were bought at Pottery barn a few years ago.

The story behind them is I  fell in love with their adorableness and told Glenn I was ordering them.  He told me not to.  When they showed up at our house a few weeks later he was mad that I spent almost $70.  I was baffled and told him I thought he was kidding when he told me not to order them because he had never told me no before.

Clearly he has spoiled me and it's his own fault that that word did not register with me.

Glenn's red one was made by his mom, and mine was made my mine.  Brutus' was bought at a Thrift store & Lila put up the miniature green one (on top of Brutus') for our hamster that died a couple of years ago.

Apparently Lila has a hard time dealing with  reality as well.

  1. Ha, I definitely feel like I know you better now! Good thing we aren't running buddies...it takes me awhile to get going! Is this how you plan to lose those ten pounds??? ;) And my sewing machine is at my Mom's house...I use it a lot!

  2. Oh no, a stocking for a dead hamster, I can't decide if that's hilariously adorable, or a little creepy...And I love shows like Teen Mom and Jersey Shore that make me feel like a wonderfully competent human being.

  3. I plan on getting back on track by not baking a million goodies everyday and eating half of them. I am going to eat healthy which is not hard as I love nutritious food. I plan on starting Dec. 26th because Jan. 1st would be way too cliche. Although Glenn's birthday is the 26th so it might have to be the 27th.

  4. I can't wait to win the lottery and hire a regular massage therapist to come every week (or day!). I love your list.

I can't even remember how to use my sewing machine! Not a good sign!

  5. When I go to thrift stores, I go to housewares first, then cookbooks, then purses!

I think you and I would make great thrifting buddies!

  6. That is hilarious you told Glenn you thought he was kidding to not purchase the stockings!!! I know you were being sincere, but I might have to use that line sometime. Ha ha. Love your list...enjoy indulging on the goodies, it is Christmas after all- and good plan to start back up to healthy on the 27th! I hope your family had fun on the slopes yesterday boarding!!!

  13. Hi Marie. I love that both yours and Glenn's stockings are homemade by your mothers, that's precious. I miss you. I hope you're having a nice time with your family visits. Everyone is getting excited here for Christmas, including me. Kirk asked me what I thought I was getting so I told him, clothes and boots? He said, "you're in for a big surprise." I guess we'll see what that means huh?

Love you so much. Thinking of you a lot lately....Shauna

  14. Ohh.. I enjoyed my pregnancy very much. I may be in the minority. By the grace of God, it was trouble free.
I could think of such a list too, thanks so much for sharing yours. It is such a feel good post, Marie

  15. I love your posts! I also have some stockings that looks so cute and homemade, but I bought them, though I don't easily volunteer that information.

I would schedule a masseuse daily.

And I have only put on a mere 8 lbs this holiday season so I still have 2 to go! :)

  16. I have beautiful stockings! My SIL made them for each of us using a coordinating pattern for some sort of needlework. She made one as a baby gift for my son and I told her that the rest of us needed them to match!
