Thrift Gifts

There's no way around it..........  lots of money is always spent during the holidays.  Christmas cards, making treats, fancy meals for visiting family, fun activities and......... oh yeah GIFTS!  Luckily I am a thrift store pro and did a lot of my shopping there.  Here are the gifts for my sister Jeannette's family.

For Kiera - age 4 1/2

Orange Leggings $0.50, Op jacket $1.50, book $0.10, Roxy Sweater $1.50, Magnetic dolls $1.50
Total  = $5.10

For Nathan - age 7 1/2

Grey jacket $1.00, Pirate Shirt $0.50, Crayola paint set (new!) $2.50, Crayola Explosion books $1.50,
book cover (wrapped) $0.10
Total =  $5.60

For Kylee - age 14

Makeup/overnight bag $2.00, Shirt $1.50, Duct Tape purse made by Emry =)
Total = $3.50

Remember wherever I am.............Brutus is right there.

And for my lovely sister Jeannette

Calendar $1.00 (Target), Pumpkin Butter $3.50 (Trader Joe's), Workout DVD $3.00 (Walmlart clearance), Key Chain $1.50 (Walmart, I told her I got such an obnoxious color so it would be harder to lose)
Total = $9.00

My sister Jeannette appreciates a good deal so she loved all of the gifts we picked out for her family.  I wrapped each of the kids gifts separately and then put them in 3 big gift bags.  They had fun opening their many gifts and I had fun watching them.

The best thing about these gifts is I started shopping early and picked out what I thought each would really like, I hope I did a good job.

  2. I love your gifts and the prices! And how fun for the kids to get to open them individually! So much better than the last minute Amazon gifts I sent to my brothers. One of these years I may just surprise my family and send them something more thought out!

    And I last photo with the snow falling is beautiful!

  5. I am a thrift store/garage sale lover too. My 4-year old's favorite gift was the little lawn mower I found at a church yard sale for $1.00. He loved it and didn't care the least that it wasn't in a box!! You did great on those gifts. I shop all year long to spread out the costs.

  7. You are my Thrift Store Idol! You are a Goddess!! No really, you're pretty good at this! ;-) I love buying smaller things, wrapping them separately and then putting them in one big bag. I did that this year. Everybody seems to like it, and that way I'm sure everything is together and nothing gets separated!

  8. Yes exactly Fran. Kids love the whole anticipation of opening lots of wrapped gifts. It's almost as good as the gifts. I have a feeling if we got together we'd have lots of fun thrifting.

  9. Good for you! Three cheers for rocking the thrift stores for holiday gifts. Good for the pocket book and the planet.

    Now I get to hit up all the online sales for the things Santa forgot to bring me...

    Enjoy the last week of the year.

  10. Love that you are a thrift store whore like me! :D I haven't actually purchased any clothes in a retail store for over 15 years!

    The best year was when Hannah was 3 - I went to a fall garage sale, everything was marked .10 to .25 cents and I bought her whole winter wardrobe, including an almost new winter coat and snow pants, for $6.00 - she hardly wore the same outfit twice! :D

  11. First off, love the chandelier shirt.

    Secondly, you are an amazingly good shopper! I cannot find a good deal very often, mostly because I am lazy I think. So I am impressed with your abilities!

    Happy New Year in advance...not sure of my Internet access around here!

  14. What great buys! I wish I was better at thrift shopping, but I think it's slightly easier when shopping for kids--and I didn't have any to buy for this year. Just my parents--and of course I had to get them a digital camera, hardly a thrift item (although a lot cheaper than I was expecting...)
