Pop Up Carnival

Monday afternoon found us in the mall parking lot at this little carnival.  My kids had seen it a few days before and were dying to go.

Emry convinced me to let her go on the caged ferris wheel.  Her exact words were "Mom, you know I am a thrill seeker", and she is, that girl will try anything.  At a regular amusement park I'd have no problem, but at a creeky, touring carnival, yikes, I held my breath the whole time.

They had a blast riding all the rides, but watching them was just as fun.

  1. Those little ones can be the most fun! I think the "rickety" feeling of the rides can up the excitement!

    1. That's what Emry said!!! Me, I am thinking they're going to fall apart.

  2. One of these shows up at a local grocery store lot every so often, but I'm never quite brave enough to ride those rides--I need some kids to force me into it ;)

  4. You are fun. The Catholic church next door puts one of these up twice a year. They beg, I never take them. Have you ever been on a Farris Wheel? I'm always so shocked at how hight they go, it never seems that high on the ground. :) I can't believe Emry actually looks taller than you in this picture. Amazing. Love you,

    1. Shauna I swear I was just thinking the same thing. First I was amazed she was growing, then sitting down we were at eye level, now I wouldn't be surprised if she WAS taller than me. It's a weird thing to have your baby girl taller than you.

  5. I'm with you. I'm always a little leery about those because they are constantly being taken apart and put back together. I'm sure they're used to it and it's second nature to do it, but still, I worry.

That being said, carnivals are made for kids and need to be experienced!

    1. I was fine with the rides that stayed on the ground, but that ferris wheel was questionable for sure. Emry said it just made it that much more exciting. That girls is crazy.

  6. I have the same feeling of dread about those rides. My oldest has been on some before, his dad talked me into letting him go. However it was a one time thing...I just don't trust them enough to let the kids go on them again.
My goodness Emry is tall...looks like she just shot straight up :)

Looks like a fun afternoon! I do get leery of those pop-up carnivals...
