Green Food and Why I won't be running 26 miles

It's St. Patricks Day.  Of course that calls for green food, because that's what the Irish eat right?
I was gone all morning attending Parent/Teacher conferences but left a list of chores for the children to accomplish.  Emry not only fed the kids breakfast, she was festive about it.......Green Crepes!!

For Lunch it will be Split Pea Soup.  I used the good ol' Better Homes recipe but veganized it using vegetable broth and omitting the Ham.

So Marathons.  Since I am a runner I have been asked many times if I run Marathons.  The short answer is "No".  The longer more truthful answer is "Never in a million years it is so sadistic and torturous to even contemplate".

I run to be in shape and to reap the health benefits period.  I do not need to be surrounded by hundreds of other runners.  I do not need a swag bag or a number.  I don't need the goal of a marathon to keep me on a workout schedule.  And I certainly don't need to shell out money when I can run for free right outside my door.

Some people need that end goal to keep to a workout schedule. For me the training is far more beneficial than an actual marathon will ever be.

That being said I actually admire Marathoners.  They have a goal and they train to accomplish it.  Great.  Exercise is always challenging and weather you take a 10 minute walk or a 2 hour run you should feel proud.

Looking forward to some Corned Beef and Cabbage with a bunch of friends tonight.  Happy St. Patricks Day!

  1. I have to say, I'm always kind of confused by people who pay exorbitant fees to enter a race when they can do the exact same thing themselves for free? Good for you for sticking to what you believe my friend!
