Emry has to run a mile next week for a Physical Education requirement. Of course I support that and think it's great. What I don't think is so great is that the girls have to clock in at 12 1/2 minutes or less while the boys must clock in at 11 1/2 minutes or less. What????
I understand the boys having to do more push ups than the girls. Boys are stronger, I would never argue that. In fact it's just how I like it. But faster, not necessarily. I am a runner. Glenn is a runner, as well as an all around athlete who excels at every sport he tries. I am not the strongest or fastest by any means. But what I lack in physical strength, I more than make up for in competitiveness.
You better believe Emry's in training. Her dad took her running last night (9:56 mile) and I took her this morning (9:27 mile).
I am not sure how accurate our mile is, and half of it is uphill, so I am curious to see what she clocks in at next week.
Sorry. No can do.
I want Emry to beat the boys too! And kudos to you for encouraging her to follow and excel in a talent that you have too. See? Despite what you said on my blog I knew you had a bunch of talents!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is Emry?
Hilarious. I'm right there with you-never let them choose their "own path," did I say never, maybe sometimes let them choose.....or maybe not. :) Go Emry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
