I spent 6 hours Saturday at Traffic School. It could have been horrible if I had a bad attitude, but I went open and willing to learn. And learn I did. If you live in California, you better be careful.
-If you drive 25mph over the speed limit, you can be handcuffed, jailed and your car impounded for 30 days. And yes, you have to pay for them kindly storing your car.
-There are more Motorcycles in CA than any other state. I think it might have something to do with our gas prices.
-If you have taken Vicodin, it needs to be completely out of your system (72 hours) or you can be charged with a DUI.
-Once GIVEN a car, 1 in 4 teenagers will have an accident. 75% of teens GIVEN a car will get a DUI.
-#1 cause of death for those under 35 years of age, Driving Accidents.
-When drunk drivers are caught, on average they have driven 87 times drunk, without being caught.
-If you have any alcohol in you whatsoever and get into a fender bender, you are automatically at fault whether you caused it or not.
-Someone is killed by a drunk driver every 40 min.
-An 80 yr. old is twice as likely to hit a pedestrian than a 40 yr. old.
- One third of people who get DUI's get a second one.
-A rolling stop ticket can set you back almost $600!!!
My ticket was for speeding. I don't drink alcohol, but I found all these stats fascinating. I learned tons more and will definitely be a much more cautious and careful driver. I have to admit I am so guilty of doing rolling stops ALL the time. No more, I am changing my ways. I have to, I can't afford the ticket.
This is my public service announcement for today. Happy & Safe Driving Everyone!!!!
Ouch- $600- that's brutal! I love that you were blogging your notes, okay, I guess you weren't really, but that would have been funny. The teen DUI stats are scary! Tickets are crazy expensive in Cali, a year ago Melissa (member Melissa from BYUH?) and I both got tickets on the same day going the same amount over- me in Utah and hers was in Cali and hers cost 3x as much as mine.
ReplyDeleteFunny Marie, glad you learned your lesson you delinquent! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou didn't do the online traffic school? I just completed my online traffic school a few months ago, then got another ticket a few weeks ago. ARGH!!!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, as you know anything online or related to the computer I am the last to know. I would say next time but hopefully there won't be one.
