Comfers Cozers Food

We do not say comfort, or even comfortable in this house (well, maybe Glenn does, but he's no fun).  We say Comfers Cozers (comfortable & cozy, but even better!).

"Let's get comfers cozers on the couch and read a book together", "Brutus, are you so comfers cozers all wrapped up in your blanket?", "Mom can we all get comfers cozers in your bed and watch a movie?", "Let's make some comfers cozers hot chocolate".

It goes on & on.  When I am talking to Brutus it is in the babiest baby voice with no less that a dozen comfers cozers in one sentence.  Completely understandable seeing how he takes about 10 naps a day.

I saw THIS RECIPE in Rachel Ray's magazine (scored for 25cents thrifting on Black Friday) and it took me back to my childhood.  Sloppy Joe's was in our dinner rotation and we all loved it.

I don't think in 15 years of marriage I have ever made Sloppy Joe's.  It was getting to be that time again.  The time when my husband's eyes glaze over and I *sense he needs a break from the pasta, lentil soups, vegetable soups, beans, tofu and salads.  The Man wants some red meat.

(*By sense I mean he straight up tells me he's telling my mom I don't feed him enough and then my mom admonishes me to feed my man.  Glenn is fully aware she will always be on his side, she's a Farmer's daughters for goodness sake).

So I whipped up some delicious comfers cozers sloppy joe's and my kids hated them.  I guess I kinda forgot my kids don't like hamburger.  Serves me right for keeping them from McDonald's all these years.

Glenn went out on an errand after dinner and brought me my favorite frozen yogurt to settle down and relax with whatever's DVR'd.

After 3 naughty children turned up their nose at my dinner, I definitely  deserved some Comfers Coze.

  2. I want to snuggle with that dog. Comfers cozers seems like my kind of thing.

My kids always turn up their noses at dinner time. But when dessert is served....they are starving.

  3. Funny, I just bought some sloppy joe "mix" at Aldi's and was going to make it with soy crumbles to see if Ralph could tell. It's all in the sauce really anyway! I love the photos of Brutus! He is just SO cute!

  4. Of course they are 'not hungry', or 'so full', but then ask for hot chocolate, cookies, ice cream....., and Fran I think you're right, my sauce was good but I think there is a better version to be made. Next time.

  6. Sloppy joes were never my thing as a kid (or as an adult), but I feel your pain all the same. So much work and love...and then...the snub. Good save by Hubby.

  8. I want sloppy joes. I do! And your dog is super cute. Why don't you ship him over here next time you take a vacay ok? It makes complete sense to me.

  9. Boo, sorry the recipe was a flop. But oh, well--guess it happens. I never liked sloppy joes much as a kid either, which is weird since they are usually marketed as a younger thing. Hmm. And your puppy most certainly DOES look comfers cozers :D

  11. I love it! We have our own word like your 'comfers cozers.' So fun!
Sloppy jo's aren't my fave but Greg loves them. He buys Manwich in a can which makes me feel ill just looking at it. I'll have to make from scratch some time.

    Your dog is so cute!

  14. Sloppy Joes were a staple dinner rotation when I was growing up yet I have never tried to make them now, in my own home. I guess I prefer a homemade hamburger over sloppy joes but they are still delicious nonetheless.

  15. I can totally appreciate your "comfers cozers". In our family we say "clootchie mcnootchie". We say it when we tuck into bed, when we cuddle down for a movie under a blanket, or any other time we feel like it. And tell Glenn,.. BRANDON is the one that started it. LOL. Also, you know that spot behind your slightly bent knees when you're laying on your side on the couch? Well ever since I was a kid that was a "cubby". My kids love laying inour cubby and I hope they keep the saying going for generations to come!
