My Grown Up Christmas List

Dear Santa, I could really use some more:   sugar, chocolate, butter, flour, powdered sugar, unsweetened cocoa, butter, nuts, vanilla, popcorn, butter, sprinkles, karo syrup and...... oh yeah, BUTTER!

Normally I eat pretty healthy, but I have to admit I fall prey to the lure of all the goodies this season has to offer.  I try not to go overboard (I only O.D. on one thing, the White Chocolate Carmel Corn I make every year.  To be discussed, analyzed and obsessed over in a later post.  Consider yourselves warned), but I have to taste EVERYTHING!  In the name of research.

Christmas means you have a reason to make all the beautiful and fun treats you drool over but don't have an excuse to make.

It's CHRISTMAS!!!!!  Cook, Bake and slave away in the kitchen all month.  What could be more fun than that?

Normally I wouldn't make cookies that called for maraschino cherries, shortening and sprinkles.  But it's Christmas.  I am going to throw caution to the wind and even use white flour.  They look so festive I just had to make them.

Seeing as how I've spent all my money on baking supplies I had to bypass Macy's & even Marshall's and buy some much needed black boots at Payless Shoe Source.  They have a great variety of shoes for the family, but their quality leaves much to be desired.

If only I would have waited a couple of weeks I could have asked Santa for real leather boots.

They would have been under the tree Christmas morning.

Right alongside 50 lbs of butter.

  1. I think you should still ask Santa for some leather boots. Those cookies look delicious.

  2. I agree with Jessica above - just ask for those boots you want - you may just get them! When I bake cookies/cakes I use the white flour too. Hence why I don't make them too often!! Those cookies look amazing! Love the picture of you on the swing!

  3. Gorgeous boots! Who cares where they came from as long as they look fabulous, and they do. Of course, you could wear a burlap sack and look stunning...sigh. I'm envious. :)

Have a lovely Monday my friend! Love your list.

  4. I feel like I'm always in a constant debate about whether or not to invest in quality boots, or cheap boots. I invested in a nice pair last summer, and wear them pretty much every day. I think I'd like to ask for a second this Christmas, because I'm getting a *bit* sick of wearing the same ones every day :-)

  7. Those cookies are totally worth the shortening/lack of health, they are too gorgeous! Would be perfect to bring to any Christmas party. Or to snack on at home...

And cute boots, plus faux-leather always gets a thumbs-up from me :)

  8. Love the Boots, you look so Cute! Cookies...I get carried away with them. I don't generally bake anymore but I have to try to stay away from them. Now you've got me thinking that I should make some. Yikes!

  10. Shauna the cookies were good but shockingly enough they actually could have used a little more sugar, I never say that! I am a sucker for almond extract, I really like that flavor. Mainly I made them because they're just so darn pretty.

  12. The cookies look great and so do you! I think the boots are really nice too - I know what you mean about saving for other things this time of year. I bought fake leather ones too ($100 at Aldo's) but get compliments on them all the time so I'm thinking I shouldn't volunteer the boots' true origins. I buy HEAPS of butter and sugar from Costco, never thought to ask Santa before, maybe this is the year! Am looking forward to your carmel popcorn recipe. We love popcorn!

  13. Oh yummy! I am trying to keep pregnancy weight gain in check so...I'm only baking pies for Christmas. Oh yah, and sugar makes me puke and get a watery mouth... There's that too. Can I give you my address? I'll take a plate! You are so cute, cheap boots or not! We saved and saved and got our boots and I LOVE THEM. To an extent...the more money the more comfortable.
