Lucky #7

My idea of a birthday party is where we make dinner, have cake, sing happy birthday and give a gift.

Ethan has been around the block as far as birthday parties are concerned and let me know balloons, friends, multiple gifts and caramel apples had to be involved.

I will give him props for the caramel apple idea, it was super fun.

Notice the Happy Birthday sign?  I didn't notice the typo until Emry pointed it out the next day.

I planned two games.  A relay race ran with eggs on spoons held in your mouth & a race where they soaked sponges and ran to fill up a bucket.

I am glad I didn't stress over this portion of the party or put too much effort into it because all the kids really wanted to do was play on our swingset, ride Ethan's razor scooter and use the sponges for a water fight.

Lila with our good friend's baby, Mason.   Where I am from a 9 year old is totally legit to babysit.

There were some friends from church and friends from school, the sweetest kids ever who spoiled Ethan with fun gifts.

So he's 7 now, although I still can't believe it!  He hasn't lost a single tooth yet, therefore I think it's fair to still call him a baby.  You aren't a big kid until you lose a tooth.   That's the new rule in case anyone's wondering.

***My kiddos start Spring Break tomorrow & I am joining them.  I'll be back to blogging all things proper and serious in 2 weeks.  Happy Spring, Happy Easter, Happy family time!!!

  1. Happy Birthday ETHAN!!!!!! The Klippels love you!

I knew those candy apples would be the bomb, if you were involved with them they're sure to turn out great. I love the party, so great. And I love that you did a cupcake cake. Those are so easy and the best! Love it all. Lucky, lucky boy.

    Missing you!

    1. Seriously! I was thinking dipping apples would be so fun for adults. The caramel is the hard part, the toppings are easy, and all the different creations are so fun.

  11. That's an awesome birthday party. I'm so glad you didn't do the typical Chuck E Cheese or overblown party.

Have you ever had a shaving cream fight at a b-day party? We used to and the parents would hose us off. It was a blast!

  13. Have a fabulous spring break with the kiddos! You have some great ones to spend it with :) LOVE the idea for caramel apples (and love the typo too, haha). And yeah, planning kids' parties always just devolves into chaos, so as long as you have a loose plan they tend to make their own fun. Although I'd be totally for a wet-sponge fight any time.

  14. I like the idea that they are still little until they have lost a tooth.

I so love the idea of doing caramel apples - that's just genius, really. I may have to hide that one as a trick up my sleeve for the next party we throw. Delicious, personal, and still somewhat "healthy." ;)

  31. I have decided to not have children based purely on the fact that they make friends, and said friends have birthdays and THEN you are all broke n' stuff buying gifts.

I've also decided that it's a terrible reason to not have a children.

I love that last picture Ms. Marie. FYI. Love it.

  34. happy birthday to your little man! looks like an amazing party! most people DO stress too much about games. kids don't need structured activities when they have friends to play with. : ) the caramel apples look divine. now i'm gonna make some and pull all my fillings out. will you make me pudding when i'm toothless?

    1. I've pulled out fillings eating caramel corn. Twice. Both times as an adult. It was just too good to pass up, it was homemade after all. I know my dentist understood.
