Lucky #7
My idea of a birthday party is where we make dinner, have cake, sing happy birthday and give a gift.
Ethan has been around the block as far as birthday parties are concerned and let me know balloons, friends, multiple gifts and caramel apples had to be involved.
I will give him props for the caramel apple idea, it was super fun.
Notice the Happy Birthday sign? I didn't notice the typo until Emry pointed it out the next day.
I planned two games. A relay race ran with eggs on spoons held in your mouth & a race where they soaked sponges and ran to fill up a bucket.
I am glad I didn't stress over this portion of the party or put too much effort into it because all the kids really wanted to do was play on our swingset, ride Ethan's razor scooter and use the sponges for a water fight.
Lila with our good friend's baby, Mason. Where I am from a 9 year old is totally legit to babysit.
There were some friends from church and friends from school, the sweetest kids ever who spoiled Ethan with fun gifts.
So he's 7 now, although I still can't believe it! He hasn't lost a single tooth yet, therefore I think it's fair to still call him a baby. You aren't a big kid until you lose a tooth. That's the new rule in case anyone's wondering.
***My kiddos start Spring Break tomorrow & I am joining them. I'll be back to blogging all things proper and serious in 2 weeks. Happy Spring, Happy Easter, Happy family time!!!

Happy Birthday ETHAN!!!!!! The Klippels love you!
ReplyDeleteI knew those candy apples would be the bomb, if you were involved with them they're sure to turn out great. I love the party, so great. And I love that you did a cupcake cake. Those are so easy and the best! Love it all. Lucky, lucky boy.
Missing you!
Shauna
Miss you too & the caramel apples were so fun. I did some with oreos and white chocolate drizzle for my visiting teachers, such a fun, yummy treat.
DeleteCaramel apples.... fun idea! Enjoy your spring break!!
ReplyDeleteThanks I will Brittnie, it will be all things kids!
DeleteThis looks like such Fun! Happy Birthday, Ethan! I still don't recognize him with his hair cut. Have A Wonderful Two Weeks!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to him! I've got a seven year old too (in Feb) but he has lost six teeth already!!
ReplyDeleteYeah I guess they are all just so different. I know he has adult teeth though cause I've seen the X-ray.
DeleteHappy birthday to your sweet boy!! I didn't notice the typo, by the way...
ReplyDeleteThat party looks like so much fun! I think that adults should have parties like that- for ourselves! I'll have you come throw my next one!
Seriously! I was thinking dipping apples would be so fun for adults. The caramel is the hard part, the toppings are easy, and all the different creations are so fun.
DeleteWhat a wonderful birthday party, and such a grown up haircut for the birthday boy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you all have a wonderful spring break and look forward to reading you when you get back.
I did want to let you know that I am giving you the Liebster award (http://mynaturallyfrugalfamily.blogspot.com/2012/03/liebster-award.html)
Have a great day Marie!
So thoughtful & sweet of you, I so appreciate it! Thanks & you have a great break as well!
DeleteYou look so sweet there as you're smiling at your big boy, I mean baby. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that caramel apple idea and your games too! The best!
If you pretend mine won't get older I'll pretend yours won't.
DeleteI LOVE his haircut. He looks like such a big boy.... sorry to say. He is a handsome little dude though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brittany, you should know having 4 handsome, strapping boys yourselves. OH, and one little princess!
DeleteWhat a fun party! And I love the birthday sign, it's unique! haha!
ReplyDeleteI took it back to Walmart. $2.50 is still 2.50 (am I cheap or what?)
DeleteThat's right, our babies share the same birthday!! Happy Birthday Ethan...it's so hard letting our baby boys grow up, don't you think? Hopefully Jabob will continue to love me as much as he does right now : )Have a fun Spring Break. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteOh he always will, it's unbearable to think anything else. Happy Belated Birthday Jacob. Ethan is way into Lego's, what is Jacob into?
DeleteThat's an awesome birthday party. I'm so glad you didn't do the typical Chuck E Cheese or overblown party.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever had a shaving cream fight at a b-day party? We used to and the parents would hose us off. It was a blast!
That is Brilliant!!!!!! Oh my gosh why have I never thought of that? So easy, cheap and fun. We are definitely doing that this summer. Anything messy my kids will love!
DeleteThat looks like an awesome party! I think most kids would play instead of doing organized games, given the option :)
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous spring break with the kiddos! You have some great ones to spend it with :) LOVE the idea for caramel apples (and love the typo too, haha). And yeah, planning kids' parties always just devolves into chaos, so as long as you have a loose plan they tend to make their own fun. Although I'd be totally for a wet-sponge fight any time.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea that they are still little until they have lost a tooth.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of your hubby making the apples and the one of you and Ethan at the end. It looks like a great party.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a bazillion kids having a fun day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ethan - may you have a blessed year!
ReplyDeleteI so love the idea of doing caramel apples - that's just genius, really. I may have to hide that one as a trick up my sleeve for the next party we throw. Delicious, personal, and still somewhat "healthy." ;)
Ah happy birthday Ethan! Marie...you need to come plan my birthday party and make caramel apples.
ReplyDeleteAsh's bday party is in just a few weeks. She wanted to postpone it until the weather warmed up for a good ol' backyard fun kind of party just like Ethan's. It looked like he had an amazing day. I love the last picture of the two of you...just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with your family! I will be on Spring break with my family next week and can't wait!!
I love the caramel apple idea...so cute. These are what kids parties should be - you did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time off! Hope you guys have a great Spring Break.
Don't get me wrong...the kids are super cute...but that little dog is SUPER cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your cutie monster-pie!
Oh he is, and super lovable too. He is all bark and no bite, such a protector.
Deletecarmel apples are the best. love all the tiny details, how much fun!
ReplyDeleteand it's okay, i wouldn't have noticed the birthday misspell if you didn't point it out ;)
xo TJ
Aww, looks like he had an amazing time!! Don't worry about the banner, kids can't spell anyway!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party!
ReplyDeleteI love the caramel apple idea. I have to admit, the sign made me laugh! I didn't even notice, until you pointed it out!
O this post is so happy! Love that shot of you and Ethan and Lila's big bow! And how in the world did you get all those kids in focus (from a nerdy camera perspective)? Have a wonderful time relaxing with your family over the next few weeks!
ReplyDeleteComing from you that is such a huge compliment. I shot in manual and just took a few pics. I have no answers, just glad they turned out.
DeleteThat party looks so fun! I hope you have a great break with your kids :)
ReplyDeleteI totally want you to come plan my 21st birthday party! ;D That looked too much fun!!
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all have an amazing spring break. :)

ReplyDeleteHehe, totally cracking up about the birthday misspelling...but it happens to all of us.

I love the picture with Lila and the baby - my daughter always gravitated towards the babies!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time with the family!!
I have decided to not have children based purely on the fact that they make friends, and said friends have birthdays and THEN you are all broke n' stuff buying gifts.
ReplyDeleteI've also decided that it's a terrible reason to not have a children.
I love that last picture Ms. Marie. FYI. Love it.
HaHa it's so true! That's why when I find a deal I stock up, sticker books, play doh etc. Are you asleep yet?
DeleteI'm about a week ahead when I write stories....they just come to me week by week.
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos. It seems like you all had such a wonderful time. Happy Birthday to the little guy.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to your little man! looks like an amazing party! most people DO stress too much about games. kids don't need structured activities when they have friends to play with. : ) the caramel apples look divine. now i'm gonna make some and pull all my fillings out. will you make me pudding when i'm toothless?
ReplyDeleteI've pulled out fillings eating caramel corn. Twice. Both times as an adult. It was just too good to pass up, it was homemade after all. I know my dentist understood.
DeleteHope ya'll had a good Spring Break!
ReplyDeleteSeems pretty perfect to me. I got the biggest laugh out of that birthday sign...... that's one for the books..... oh, and I completely agree with the tooth thing.... my "baby" hasn't lost one yet either! :)
ReplyDeleteEverything here looks just perfect. (Like all your parties.:))
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a wonderful time!
Happy Spring Break!!
Happy Bitrhday Ethan! ;-) Carmel apples really were such a great idea. Looks like so much fun. He's a lucky boy.
ReplyDeletetoo cute! love the apples!
ReplyDeletexoxo navy & orange
What a fun party! I hope I'm this creative when the time comes. Enjoy spring break!
ReplyDeleteThose caramel apples would cost $4 each in a store and be way less fun. I'll have to keep that in mind. It would be a fun tradition for birthdays.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful party :) happy spring break :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the perfect party!! I love the caramel apples and the fun easy games. The misspelled 'birthday' just adds to the greatness :) I can't wait to have fun parties with my kiddo!
ReplyDeleteYou're such a great mama to your kidlets!! Happiest birthday to your sweet son! xoxo
Wow, I think that is one perfect birthday party for a kid. It's obvious that the kids enjoyed the party.
