Sugar & Spice
Lila's been bugging me for 2 weeks to make chocolate chip cookies. It's my own fault as I've passed on quite the sweet tooth to all my kids. Chocolate Chip cookies straight from the freezer are her favorite, she likes em frozen and crunchy.
I have a hard time saying no to Lila because the girl is so darn sweet. She loves puppies and Nancy Drew, Pet Shops and swinging, stuffed animals and dress up, singing and doing gymnastics all throughout the house, and best of all she's extremely obedient. I know with Lila I just have to ask once.
Lila is 9 going on 5. What I mean is she is so young and innocent. All of her stuffed animals have names and she notices immediately if one of her millions of little toys goes missing from the playroom. Much to my chagrin she vetoes everything I try and put in the goodwill box. She loves all of her little toys so much.
She also plays so well with her cousin Kiera who just turned 5. They love all the same things so it works out perfectly. Jeannette and I are always so amused how in sync those two are.
She also really, really loves reading.
Obviously.

She sounds a lot like my 10 year old, who's into Nancy Drew and 10 going on 6. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute girl. I love frozen cookies and brownies too... the best. :)
ReplyDeleteI completed your tag post on my blog. Enjoy! Thanks for the fun idea!
She is just the dearest little girl! I love how you described her. :)
ReplyDeleteI have the teal and brown blanket and everyone fights over it at my house lol! chocolate chip cookies are my weakness
ReplyDeleteWhat you can't see is that blanket is full of holes thanks to a dog who thinks it's so fun to chew on blankets.
DeleteMy stepdad likes cookies right out of the freezer too! I'm the opposite- right out of the oven all warm and gooey... oh now I want to make some chocolate chip cookies....
ReplyDelete9 going on 5. That's funny, I'm 27 going on 5 as well... ;)
ReplyDeleteFrozen cookies? So good.
Obedient child? Even better.
Life's weird like that. At night when I am falling asleep at 7 I feel like 38 going on 90. When a good song comes on the radio & I am a dancing fool I am definitely 38 going on 18.
DeleteHaha, I love that last picture--that was me as a kid, absorbed in a book while the rest of the world went on around me. As a kid? Okay, it's still me ;D And frozen cookies are the best--I love making "breakfast" cookies, and having a cold treat for breakfast on warm mornings.
ReplyDeleteAlso--responded to your vegan/chicken question on my blog!
It used to be me and then I had kids that cried and wanted to be fed and I remembered I was their mom and party time was over :)
DeleteI love that last picture! So cute! It's so nice to have a child like that. They bring so much peace into the home. Cute post Marie. Love,
ReplyDeleteShauna
Yep, love that last picture - holding the book open with her toes! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a little multi-tasker! :o) Sometimes I can't put a book down either!
ReplyDeleteShe sounds so much like Lexie. Lexie will be 10 next month, but she is still so young at heart. I don't understand how they notice when one tiny thing disappears from the HUGE collection of toys in the closet. That amazes me. Someone could take my favorite top out of the closet and I wouldn't notice for a month, or maybe ever.
Choco chip cookies in the freezer? I'm going to have to try this...
Emry (11) is a slob and can't find anything. Lila, you could lose a needle in our house and chances are she would find it. She has an awesome memory and is such a sleuth, I always tell her she should be a detective.
DeleteIt just hit me that I did not address your question in my vlog! I am SO SORRY! How can I ever make it up to you?? I hope you can forgive me...
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great day! =)

I know, I was waiting for my moment to be famous on your blog too :) I am sure there will be another one soon.
DeleteI still have stuffed animals. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the last photo! That's me lately...regardless of what I'm doing, there's a book in my hand! Lila is my kind of girl!!
ReplyDeleteAs it should be Fran. I love to lose myself in a good book. Unfortunately I just started one I think I am going to quit, I am just not into it.
DeleteHold on to her sweet innocence as long as possible. She has all the time in the world to grow up!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly!
DeleteShe sounds wonderful! I hope she holds onto it as well. Too many grow up too fast! THose cookies look great. For all the baking I can do, my chocolate chip cookies NEVER turn out!
ReplyDeleteSo cute to see her reading while getting her nails painted.
ReplyDeleteMy husband likes his cookies from the freezer too. That is one thing I will never understand.
The nails photo is too funny!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great to be young like this - childhood is so short.
That dollhouse is fabulous!!!
Thanks, got it at a garage sale of course. Most of her toys are garage sale or thrift store finds. I can spend $5 on a pet shop or 10 cents, such a no brainer.
DeleteOne of the greatest gifts my mom passed on to me is the love of reading.
ReplyDeleteLila is a girl after my own heart - I LOVE a good chocolate chip cookie from the freezer. I'm not sure what it is, but I vastly prefer them that way or fresh out of the oven. Room temperature is simply unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteI think it's just the freshness that's so good. Even my yummy cookies after a day or two are so blahhh. So into the freezer they all go. Glenn will stick a few in the toaster oven and warm em up because he likes that gooey from the oven taste.
DeleteLila sounds like my kind of girl!
ReplyDeleteLila is a sweet, sweet girl. I would be too, if my mum made those fantastic looking chocolate chip cookies too.
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case than Mimi is one of the sweetest. Remember I read your blog, your creations are Fantastic!!!
DeleteWhat a beautiful girl! I can only hope my boys turn out like that. I love that she is 9 going on 5, kids grow up too fast these days!
ReplyDeleteThat girl definitely deserves cookies for being so sweet herself! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteLila sounds a lot like my Bean. I tend to do a bit more for her because she is just so easy. She listens, she gets her chores done, she offers help and she doesn't have the sass that Ash seemed to have picked up from someone...no, not me ;-)
ReplyDeleteSometimes, they need that extra bit just to remind them that we notice and that we appreciate and love them. I say, "BAKE AWAY!"
Isn't it so nice to have an easy kid. But then again, she's only 9 so we should stay tuned huh?
Deleteoh gosh, frozen chocolate chip cookies are my favorite too!!! the mister's dad makes them every time we come to visit! obsessed!
ReplyDeletexo TJ
This is actually Glenn's dad recipe. It's the best and he makes them all the time. I guess both of our FIL's are great bakers.
Deletefrozen chocolate chip cookies?
ReplyDeletelots of reading?
could you be MY mom?
i can't remember the last time i had time to snuggle up with a good book...
I've been thinking how fun it would be to have another kid - so sure, come on over.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a mini version of you doing Lila's nails in the last picture. What a beautiful post to showcase her.
ReplyDeleteIf I promise to be obedient do you think I could have one of those yummy cookies?
Cute! :)
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm seeing a trend... Didn't you say in a few posts back that you can't say no to your boy???? ;)
ReplyDeleteFrozen chocolate chip cookies are THE BEST! Whenever I bake them I never have one straight out of the oven. I take the best looking one (i.e. the ones with the most chocolate chips) and put them right into the freezer. Yay for Lila! Next time I bake some I'll put some extra ones in the freezer for her!!
ReplyDeleteYou've got adorable kids Marie. They are sweet. It's cute watching them with those "girly moments" together.
