Simple Memories

Last night Glenn hung out with the guys, Emry with some girlfriends, and I with my two little ones Lila & Ethan.  We totally partied.  Swimming, dinner in my bed while watching Soul Surfer and even frozen yogurt!!  I know, we're crazy.

Afterwards I told them I would read them 1 book before bed.  We ended up reading 'Arthur's Lost Duckling'.  I am a huge fan of all the Arthur books, I never tire of reading them.  The kids feel the same way and we have read every single one at least a dozen times.

After I finished we played an impromptu game I made up.  The back of the book is decorated with the characters faces.  I would point to a face and whoever said the name first got a point.

It was one of those things that should have been dumb but was SO MUCH FUN.  Ethan was getting so excited and they were literally yelling names out and we were laughing so hard.

Then I asked Arthur Trivia.  'Who dressed up like a baked potato for Halloween?', The Brain.  'What is Muffy's last name?', Crosswire.  'What is Arthur's favorite T.V. show?, Bionic Bunny.  It went on and on.

I love times like this.  Unscripted, unplanned.  Just me and the kids laughing out loud, shouting at the top of our lungs and making memories.

Actually I am not sure they will remember this time specifically.  But I know they will remember the feeling.  The feeling of fun.  Of being together.  Of being silly and loud.  Of being loved.

If nothing else their knowledge of Arthur is unsurpassed.

  2. gosh the moments just like that I've had with not only JJ but the teenager.

    they DO remember the fun.
maybe not always the same way you do, but Kyle tells me moments of the same event and his take is a tad different (like what he loved about it) but the fact that it left a fun memory was totally worth it.

Don't ever stop Marie. it's good for the soul, and not just the kids'.
