Just Because

We've been staying up late.  We didn't get home from the beach last night until after 11 p.m.  We brought tons of sand home with us and I spent half the day sweeping, vacuuming & mopping it up.  (company's coming)

All you'd have to do is pull up our lint catcher in our dryer to know how often we go to the beach.  What doesn't make it's way into our house finds it's way there via towels, clothes & blankets.

Glenn and 2 of his best friends, Jordan & Matt, that he grew up with.  They both decided to become doctors and since Glenn didn't want to be a copycat he went into business.  They all hail from Northern California but made their way South one at a time.

I am not sure who's idea it was to make a million red vines available to the kids but for the record I am appalled!

I did try and be responsible and make them stop playing on the lifeguard tower since it did say 'Keep Off '.

After they all got in a few more jumps. Dang,  it was keeping em busy too.

My kids love getting their grubby little hands on an ice cold soda.

Ethan's a little bit cold.

Just because I'd rather have a blurry picture of me loving Lila taken by a kid then no picture at all.

Thrifting June 2012

Thought I'd put the date since it seems y'all feel like me and love a good bargain, so I am sure I'll be posting my finds more often.  I am no blog expert but I did notice One Post was out read way way more than any other post I've ever done.  So I decided to give the people what they want......... DEALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thrift store expedition did have a purpose, two actually.  First the girls needed black leggings and shirts for their upcoming play and black is not a color I ever buy for them so we had nothin'.  Second Emry wanted a yellow shirt and skirt  as her & some friends were dressing up as characters from 'The Mysterious Benedict Society' on the last day of school.  Some kids take the opportunity of lax teachers to break the dress code, my daughter takes it to dress up as a character from one of her favorite books.  Long live book nerds!!!!

Thrift stores are not always a deal.  I love to hit up the 50% days, everything I bought this day was 1/2 off.

Sparkly, blingy sweater $1

Summer shirts $1 each

 2 black leggings & 2 black shirts, total $3

 Lila's striped dress $3.50, Emry's grey sweater dress $4

Tan Gap sweater for Lila $0.75, pink Old Navy jacket for Emry $1.50

Shirts for Emry $1 each, skirt $5 (jeans her own) Five dollars was more than I wanted to pay but finding a yellow skirt proved more difficult than I thought.  This was found in the 'boutique' section, where they put the nicer items.

Jacket $2, - shirt $1, shorts $2

shirt $1, jeggings $2.50 (someone's gettin' used to striking a pose)

 sweater $1

church shirt $1, sweater $1  -  The sad crying picture is because on the way home from church Emry was saying that she was the favorite child and for some weird reason Ethan believed her and couldn't get over it.  So glad I found this nice summery shirt for Ethan since he only has 2 other church shirts.

t-shirts $1 each, sweatshirt $3.50

shoes $2 -  These were the only shoes in Ethan's size and thank goodness they're perfect for the summer.  When we got home I threw away his other 2 pair of shoes that he had worn out!

kid's game $2 -  The kids & I have already played this game a few times, they totally surprise me with their clever answers.

unpictured, brand new w/tags bathing suit for Lila (cause we go through em' like water here) $1
Disney movies $3 for 3

Grand Total $49.75

Now if only the thrift store sold organic milk and eggs I'd have it made.

Unbroken

My arthritis has been in remission for about a year.  Not anymore.

I was reading a book last night waiting for Emry to finish play practice when the serious pain began.

Then I tossed and turned all night while my fingers to elbow of my right hand were swollen with intense pain.  I've never experienced it so severe.

I've popped more pills in the last 24 hours than I have my entire life.

I can feel it getting better.  Maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Emry fashioned me a sweet sling.

But this summer is still so great.  I love having the kids home.  I love late nights watching movies and productive mornings of chores and home school stuff.

Typing is not easy.  But rest assured my summer is awesome.

X (or anything really) marks the spot

I love my kids.  I love them so much.  But they are lazy.  I have to take credit for this because even though my house is usually spotless, laundry done and an abundance of prepared meals, that is for the sole purpose of not having to lift a finger the rest of the week.

We all love books here.  Love reading can't get enough live at the library love books.  However my kids have yet to grasp onto the concepts of bookmarks.  No matter how many I stock in their room and around the house (free one's from the library, I would never purchase anything that a piece of scrap paper could sub in for) they use everything BUT bookmarks.  Here's the proof..........

This is Emry's bookmark of choice during the school year because she usually reads directly after homework and I guess she figures since her pencil is so handy helping her do her homework it won't let her down in marking her spot either.

This is Lila's marker from today, a Lego piece.   Lego's can pretty much do anything so why not keep your page?

Unfortunately this is Emry's most used marker.  I am utterly embarrassed and take no credit whatsoever for it.  It's a candy wrapper.  This particular one is a Starbust wrapper, but she plays no favorites, I've seen a skittles wrapper, sweet tarts & tootsie pop wrappers.  Sometimes it's just a regular ol' piece of garbage she's picked up off the floor.  Show some respect Emry.

By far this is the most popular choice for Ethan, I see this daily in his room .  A book used as a bookmark, a literal Book-mark, nice Ethan.

But sometimes he'll grab something out of his toybox just to mix it up.

This is the reason I decided to do this post.  I took this picture yesterday.  WHAT THE HECK?!?!  Ethan really does feel as though when it comes to bookmarks, ANYTHING goes.

I don't even know what this is or why it was in the front room.  It had to have been in the front room because the kids only use what's within their reach.

If you ever need to give my kids a gift don't bother going to the store.  Just take something you want to throw away, wrap it up, and call it a bookmark.

They'll love it.
