Shopaholic

I've realized a truth about myself.  I am a clothes snob.  I used to think I wasn't.  That I wore my second hand clothes with humility.  That it was okay to have a packed closet because they were thrift store finds or hand me downs.

When I receive compliments on those castoffs I'll happily boast that they were mere dollars at the Goodwill or found under a heap at a garage sale.

People always think I am a genius for getting such cute clothes at bargain prices.

Double whammy!  You like my clothes & you think I am smart?

I have enough dresses to wear a different one to church the whole calendar year.   Probably a bit much,no?

And I MUST put on lipgloss before I demand my 7 year old take a photo of my most recent & favorite find.

It's time to face the facts that I am just like every other woman in the world.  I love clothes.

I said it.

  1. Me too! I have so many dresses and I almost didn't have a chance to wear them all this summer. Somehow I still manage to feel like my closet is empty though. :/

  7. I see nothing wrong with loving nice clothes! It's more than superficially caring about how you look, it just sets the attitude for the whole day if you like/are comfortable in what you're wearing! (And yup, that dress is gorgeous.)

    1. You're actually so right. For YEARS when I had babies I didn't even bother to put together an outfit, sometimes staying in sweaty workout gear all day. Yes! I was one of those moms who I swore I'd never be. Now that I put some effort into it I do feel much better about myself.

  9. Never be ashamed. We can love clothes and that you love them for a mere fraction of their retail cost does indeed make you genius :)

  11. Love the dress! People always say the same about me as well, my mum marvels at how many clothes I have and how much money I have left in my purse. I'm not complaining!

  12. You and I would be the best thrift store/garage sale buddies! I haven't shopped in a retail store in probably 15 years (well, except for bathing suits and underwears - those I buy new!)

  13. I have to say, I've never been a clothes person. But the habit definitely suits you well. Great hair as well, I must say. I think what I need is a personal shopper that can find things that will flatter my figure and style. Perhaps you should hire out your services???

  14. You're speaking my language on this post, Marie! I Love, love LOVE Thrift Store shopping! "Salvo" is my favorite place. I love that anything I try on has already been washed and all the shrinking that's going to happen is done. I love telling my friends where I got what they're complimenting then shocking them with how little I spent. (Especially if I go on a Wednesday when all clothing is 50% off). I've scored several one of a kind pieces that were hand sewn. Those are some of my favorite finds!

    1. It's the best right. And I too usually only shop the 50% days. Even though it's the Goodwill, they can be quite pricey.
