I thought this would never end.
But it did. And it happened fast. Everyone said 'enjoy them, they grow up so quickly'. I knew they were right. And were they ever. I went from spending every waking second up to my neck in diapers, dishes, play dough, puzzles, messes, smudges, spills, stained clothes (mine), laundry, and luckily a blurry memory so I actually find myself missing it, to having 3 children in school for almost 7 hours a day. I can't believe they're gone.
I miss putting Lila's pajamas on backwards so she didn't take them (along with her diaper) off at night.
I miss trying to burn this feeling into my memory.
Don't miss this. But by the third you learn how to tune it out pretty well.
Don't miss all the fake help. Do love all the real help I get now.
The projects are still done. Only now the kids are better about cleaning up after themselves, somewhat.
Don't miss all the kid museums. Do miss the magic & wonder of watching the children play and discover things for the first time.
Don't miss because it is STILL in my backyard. Miss. No one draws better than a 5 year old.
Don't miss because it's still happening. Every night!!!!!
MISS!!!!
I am so glad I have photos. And memories. More than anything I am glad I didn't miss a moment. I experienced the good, bad and every single exhausting, crazy second that went into these kids.
And the journey is far from over.
Aw! Your children are so precious! I am going to cherish every moment and stage of my baby's life. There are still so many more moments to enjoy and as they get older they can help out with more chores! :p
ReplyDeleteSuch darling pictures and memories!!! Such a fun post Marie. I especially love the one of them 'helping' to sweep the floor. So classic!! Funny how they want to help when the quality isn't the greatest...and I suspect they won't be as interested when their skills have sharpened. Ha!
ReplyDeleteYesterday Noah decided to be the black spiderman for Halloween and it was a little bittersweet that he isn't going to be some cute little something or other that still shows he is a little boy...but guess what, I FINALLY have #2 on the way so I can experience it all over again!! Yippee!!
PS I've forgotten to tell you how much I love your blue layout, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, Marie! You're such a good Mom. Being a Mom is something I didn't have a chance to experience, but now, thanks to Ralph, I'm getting to be a step-mom and grandmother. Acutally the kids call me FranMom, which came from a funny incident. Ralph's son Bill calls me Fran. His son Alex who was maybe 4 (now 19!!) knew that I was grandmom, but he heard Bill calling me Fran. He ended up calling me FranMom and it stuck. I love that I have a specail name from the kids that no one else has. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more Marie!
ReplyDeleteThis post griped my heart big time!
I'm totally absorbing every sweet minute because I know how fast it goes...I just have to look at my almost 6 ft teenager to realize little is going to grow just as fast!
Dear Marie, I agree with Fran-you are a great mom. Thanks for your example as a mom and wife. I have always cherished it and always will. I love the pictures I love you and love your family so much.
ReplyDeletePS. I should have commented on the last post about this but I'm saying it here-I love the new shirts you purchased but next time, and I think I can speak for all the folks above, please give us a fashion show/post.........:)
Such a sweet post...I can't believe I never thought about doing the backward-pajama thing! It would have saved me a ton of time with the diaper clean up...
