Spiced Cranberry Pecans

I got hooked on Trader Joe's Rosemary Pecans a while back.  Those suckers are GOOD!  But you pay almost $4 for a small bag, and I just couldn't do it anymore.  I consulted my good friend Google and found a RECIPE.

Lucky for me Rosemary grows all around my neighborhood and is plentiful.  The pecans and cranberries are from Costco.  This whole pan, which is equivalent to 6 of the Trader Joe bags, cost me about $6.  That means I cut the cost by 75%.  Not too shabby.

I toss a handful of these on my daily (sometimes 2x a day) salad.  They definitely make the salad.  As do leftover yams, avocado, roast chicken, baked tofu and anything else I can cram in.

I am not sure why Lila thought holding the backdrop for this photo was boring.  Doesn't every kid think helping out with a photo shoot is super fun.  I am sure Megan will tell her mom it's the funnest play date she's ever had.

  1. Those pecans look good. I've had the rosemary ones from TJs and they are delicious but a little expensive.

  3. Yum!! I haven't bought many pecans this year because they were $16 a bag at Sam's and they were only $9 last year. Yikes. Love the picture of the girls - my kids help with the pictures sometimes, but they often get bored quickly.

  8. Haha, they look so bored. But totally worth it for a picture of tasty pecans! I loved toasting almonds--especially with a little liquid smoke tossed in--but have never done pecans.

Also, if you ever make your way through your stock of flours--I have a feeling you'll love buckwheat! It has such a great hearty and earthy flavor--and I say that even while not being a fan of describing things as "earthy" :)

  15. Oh Sarah my kids do it all, walk the dog, clean bathrooms, take out the trash, sweep (not that well) and anything else I can think of. Child labor at it's best. But I am taking them to the beach today so how hard can their life really be?

Fran you add the cranberries afterwards. Click on the link for measurements but is seems upon eating them I always end up adding more cranberries to the mix.

  16. Marie, I'm so glad you posted this because I kid you not after buying a bag of these a few times I thought, "hopefully Marie will just replicate these soon." Hahahahahaha. My wish was granted-yes! I guess I could have replicated first, but why when you and food have such a sweet relationship...everything always turns out so lovely. :) Thanks for sharing, love you so much,
