More than you ever wanted to know

Dog or Cat/ Favorite animal?

*Please.......my heart belongs to one.  We're pretty much soul mates.

Favorite Color

*Green.  And sometimes blue, and yellow.  Never black.  I think I own 2 black items in my whole closet, I like anything bright (more on that later).

What is your passion?

* Making sure these 3 feel like no one has ever been loved as much as they are.

 Getting or giving gifts?

*Although my husband spoils me like crazy (and I give him things like coupons that I never make good on), I do love to make treats and give them to my kids, the neighbors, teachers and family.  How adorable are these St. Patricks day treats I made today?

Coffee or Tea?

*Neither, Pero.  Made with some brown sugar and milk, I am completely smitten.

Favorite Pattern?

*Anything with a 70's vibe, colorful and whimsical.  I guess I've rubbed off on the girls too.

How do you stay energized?

*By only wearing makeup when I am forced and not washing my hair. This frees me up to do more important things like organize Lila's Polly Pockets.

Favorite room in your house?

*The kitchen of course.  It comes in really handy to be there when I am hungry.  Which is always.

Favorite Pastime?

*Opening my oven, there always seems to be something delicious coming out of that thing.

Favorite Food?

*Salad.  With a strong cheese, tons of veggies, nuts, sweet potatoes & beans or tofu with a vinaigrette.  I know it seems bizarre to have only 2 crackers with hummus.  There were about 10 more but I ate them in the course of the 2 minutes it took me to take this picture.

Who do you admire?

*Glenn!!!!  This is what he wore golfing with all of his friends.  The only way he could pull it off though is because he's a great golfer.  He's the best sport ever, & I mean that literally.  Even if he tries a sport for the first time he'll most likely be better than the person teaching him.

Facebook or Twitter?

*Facebook was fun for about 4 months so I could catch up with old friends from High School, but once I did I dropped out.   I don't tweet.  I don't understand what Twitter is.

Favorite quote

“No amount of success can compensate for failure in the home.”  David O. McKay

I also really like

"There's no such thing as quality time.  Just time."  unknown source

  1. I agree with you about dogs! I love them. Cats always seem to love me though.

And those St Pattys Day treats are adorable! So cute :)

  2. I think that it's so wonderful that you admire your husband. He's awesome, I love Glenn. Well, Miss Marie another great post. Some people could go on and on about themselves without boring or bothering or annoying anyone...you're one of those people. I love these posts all about you! They could all be that way and I would love your blog just the same.

The St. Patrick's treats are way toooooo cute. May be copying, seeing as I do not actually have to bake anything.

Guess what, I've been using dry shampoo too. I've tried several, I like the one I'm using now, it's some off brand.

Seeing your kitchen makes me want to be there right now. I guess Thira told you I won't be coming with them, too much money, I should have booked a flight few weeks ago if I wanted to come this week. Looks like I'll be coming right before Easter.

GREAT POST! Love you and I'm so happy you're touching so many people with your blog. I love reading it Marie, thanks for the great thoughts, writing and insight. You're wonderful. Love,

    Shauna

  3. You have a beautiful kitchen! Also, I have never used dry shampoo. I don't wash my hair often (maybe 2x a week) but I use regular shampoo and conditioner. Do you mind sharing what type of dry shampoo you use and how often? I am intrigued! Love those quotes!

    1. The brand is 'Not Your Mother's' (just picked it up at Walmart) and I can go about 10 days w/out washing my hair if I use this on about day 4 and again at day 7 or 8. I have really thick healthy hair so I like it better a little bit dirty, it just looks better.

  4. You are always so upbeat! My favorite room is my kitchen as well. The conversations we have there, the meals we share, and the silly times almost always seem to take place in or around the kitchen.

  7. I LOVE your style. I want to dress like you every single day- seriously. It's what I call "Hippie chic" which is PERFECT to me. If I ever actually move out west, I'm changing my whole wardrobe.
The kitchen is my favorite room too (duh)!
I love that Brutus is your soul mate. :)

  8. The kitchen is my favorite room, too! Followed closely by the bedroom. I love sleep *almost* as much as I love food. :o)

You're not missing anything on Facebook. I have a personal account that never gets used. And I have no idea how to use Twitter either. I think there are way too many social networking sites.

  9. What a fun post! I would love to be your neighbor or relative!!!

  10. You are the coolest, and your passion is the BEST! You have to tell me what dry shampoo you use. I've never tried that, but for traveling, that would be insanely helpful!

    Glenn is hilarious!

    1. 'Not Your Mother's' dry shampoo, from Walmart. Glenn is completely hilarious, he's great to have as a husband because life is hard but he always makes me smile, and rarely is he down, of course sometimes he's stressed but he doesn't show it.

  11. Not too much info, I loved this. And thank you for not understanding Twitter, O man, I don't get it!

  12. Love how your kids have adapted your personal style! And YES, let's hear it for avoiding hair-washing. I'm so cheap I even use cornstarch instead of buying dry shampoo, haha.

    1. I used to use baby powder but love dry shampoo cause it adds more volume. I am gonna try cornstarch, thanks.

  13. Thank you, I don't understand what the hell twitter is all about either. Somehow my brother in law has "tweeted" 50,000 times. Does the world need to know that I just put my socks on or toasted a bagel?

I love the no shampooing! :D

  14. Dry shampoo...I have been curious for a while, but it appears yours works very well. What brand do you use?

    1. 'Not Your Mothers' from Walmart. There are pricier brands but this one works just fine for me.

  15. Cute tagging post!! (I still need to do mine, I am uber behind!) Your St. Paddy's treats look darling- love!! I love the 70's vibe outfits you snapped pics of. And that popcorn, I can almost smell it. Between that and the cupcakes I think I need something sweet to eat stat!

  16. Thanks for playing along, I loved reading your answers! My husband loves Pero too. He says it reminds him of coffee and he's no longer a coffee drinker so Pero gives him a little reminder of the good ol coffee drinkin days haha.

    1. It's addictive like coffee, I can't go a day without it. (Although of course it's not, it's just a grain drink)

  17. HAHA I never wash my hair either...I mean I can go like 4 or 5 days and it's SO great. I have a frizz head so it takes over an hour to get it tamed. By then I'm hot and annoyed and my daughter has probably made a huge mess somewhere!

  18. I think you should do a feature salad every week or just invite me over for lunch or dinner once a week. Your salads always look so amazing.
I love the first quote you choose. I had to learn that one the hard way when I was working. I let the candle burn at both ends and so many of us ended up getting burned. I think just reading blogs like yours helps keep me in check and I truly am blessed to have landed here when I did!

    1. I realized afterwards that the 2nd quote doesn't really make sense out of context. When I read it I thought of course of time spent with children. Meaning that Kids like to be read to for 10 minutes of 'quality time', but they also like spending hours having you just watch them at the park or be there when they're playing. They just like knowing you're there. And it seems all these random 'non-quality' times are when the precious things are said and first steps are taken.

  19. Love all the info! :) That has to be the most creative and yummy St. Patrick's Day treat!

  20. Oh my gosh, your pup looks like the happiest critter on this earth! Not kidding.

I think someday we should all do a post on what actually goes into photographing one's food - because it's SO true. There are no snaps of the slurps and snarfs that happen once something is plated. Sometimes making sure something survives to plating is a miracle in and of itself.

    Happy Wednesday, lady!

  24. That golfing thing is totally something my husband would do. We once went to a bowl-athon where he wore the largest, pink shoes they had, used a super-light pink ball, which he tossed in the air sometimes, and still had the best score of the day. He'd love golfing with your husband in that outfit.

  30. I am so with you on the makeup! The hair is another thing for me though, mostly because I wasn't blessed with beautiful hair like you. Some of us have to work for it. :)

Very cute treats...when are you going to do a giveaway where I'll win for sure??

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have to work on my hair because it's just so straight and I think it looks best with some wave or curl.

A giveaway? I am not sure how they work. I guess I could not be lazy and figure it out huh?

  33. What a great favorite past time! My oven is not as exciting. I do have to say, I've gotten into a regular habit of wearing eye makeup and blush the last few months...and I've found it to be a lot of fun...but as soon as it's not fun anymore...well, I Quit.

And dry shampoo is amazing. however I have had terrible luck. either a bottle stops working, or somehow it gets an air hole, and bam. It's miserable. What is your brand of choice? You should tell me.
