15 South

Lila with her friend Audrey
I am about to sound really bratty, but it was ANOTHER beautiful day at the beach.  When the kids were all little I actually dreaded going because it was such a hassle, but now that they're older it's so fun.

And even more fun when Glenn's able to come with us.  The kids love going out in the ocean with him, they know I am a stick in the mud & only go in the water maybe once a year.

Ethan & Glenn playing ball.

Audrey, Lila and Allie in the fort they built.

It was a super fun day with lots of friends.  We go with friends but also inevitably run into people we know as well.  There were a lot of us & I am going to guess there were about 40 kids between us all.  I am not even sure how we kept track of them all.

I guess it seemed more of a lay in the sand type of day.  Here's a bunch of mom's talking keeping track of their kids out of the corner of their eyes.

Finding another use for boogie boards.

Using one for real.  Ethan is getting so good.  Or maybe that's just the mom in me talking.

This is the closest I could get to Emry.  You can't really tell but she is SO far.  She is a great swimmer, pool & ocean, but she is definitely one who likes to push the limits.  Either that or she thinks she's a fish.

Time to fill up the van with sand.

  1. What a fun day (especially to be with such a big group!). I wish our ocean was warm enough to actually play in. Great pictures!

  2. I have a confession to make - I don't do the beach! Sand is my enemy! Happy you can enjoy, though!

    1. We spent almost 2 hours dismantling our dryer this morning & cleaning it all out. There was so much sand lodged underneath the lint catcher, I was in shock.

I totally understand your dislike, it's a lot of work.

  4. Great pictures! I'm kind of jealous of people who live close to the ocean and beach. All that surf and sand and pretty blue skies, looks like everyone had a lot of fun.

  6. What a lovely day! Wish I lived closer to the beach, I'm stuck in London on the trains at the moment and it's BAKING outside! My mum used to complain that I filled the car up with sand too :)

  8. Marie, looks like a perfect way to spend a Saturday! I'm still in the "high alert" stage at the beach with Marlowe but one day I'll be able to relax again! :)

    1. Oh I totally remember those days, stressful because no matter how young Emry was she went straight into the ocean far.

  9. You're not a brat!! You just know how to take advantage of the great ocean you live next to!! Do your kids surf? I've always wanted to learn to do that!!

    1. They're learning. Emry went on Saturday and got up. Lila is still a little afraid and Ethan is easing into it with the boogie board, which he uses like a surfboard :)

  16. The weekend was gorgeous!

One of these days I want to drive down south and hit the beach with you and your family. I have a feeling we'd have a fantastic time and Maya? She'd have an even better time!

Great pics my friend. You and your friends are all model-material.

  17. You are a brat. :)
I am not a beach person, but this makes me REALLY want to live near the beach! Our beaches here around about 3 hours away, and they're just not nearly as pretty or clean.

  20. I wish I could have "another" day at the beach. You all are so blessed to be close to the beach and have so many friends for the kids to pal around with. Makes the trip a bit less stressful I am sure, if you aren't the one who is always in charge of entertaining.

  21. Going to the pool is so hard with little ones! When I lived in Turkey I LOVED living by the water, but the mountains are nice too. I just love living in the nature that God created!
