Zany, Zephyr, Zinnia

Remember when being called a Nerd was a negative thing?  It's not anymore right?

This was Ethan a few nights ago in my bed.  Reading the Dictionary.  That was his book of choice to take to bed.  I continue to be surprised by this little boy who is sweet and smart, cautious and fearful.  Whenever he wants to go to his cousin's house he asks me at least a few times if I have talked to his aunt and if she's ok with it, if she said yes, if she knows he's coming.  Ethan is just like me in that sense, he doesn't want to be a bother, he wants to make sure he's welcome.

He's like me also in that he loves words.  We were both in my bed reading and every few minutes he would say "Sometimes I am sullen",  "After we go to the beach I want to collapse", "I am frisky", "I love beverages", & "Sometimes you make us toil all day".  (These were his exact sentences.  Of course I thought he was being so cute I had to write everything down)

So there we were two bookworms in bed in all our nerdy glory.  Before Ethan went to be he looked at me and said "Whoever wrote this took a long time".

He's probably right.

  1. Haha, this may or may not be the most adorable post ever. (And I'd totally read out of the dictionary as a kid.)

  4. My heart just broke in two. What a (brilliant) sweetheart.

I have been meaning to read Ulysses the book for ages. Have a copy on my shelf. Will have to give it a go and then see if it is suitable for Junior.

  7. Sometimes you make us toil all day. ;o) He's quick, isn't he?

Lexie reads the dictionary, too. I was concerned at first that maybe I wasn't providing her enough new reading material, but apparently she likes it!

  12. Nerds are the best! I am so happy that my girls prefer a good read over anything else. My girls love to not only stroll through the dictionary but they read tons of fact books too. They know way more than I did about lots of things at their age! They also still teach me things too. :-)

    1. My girls too, they also love these books that have actual court cases and then you turn to the back to see the verdict. I love these books but the only problem is I never find them used, I actually have to go and find them in Barnes & Noble and pay 6-10 bucks a pop.
