Happy Halloween 2012

Last night was our ward Halloween Party.  Primary (which I am a part of) was once again in charge of the cake walk which is super fun as we just get to dance and pass out treats all night.

We started with chili and cornbread, then games, then trunk or treating.  Glenn & I were so busy helping out with the games that we missed the whole trunk or treating portion and by the time Ethan caught on he only got to 5 cars.  When he saw his sisters stash he was heartbroken.  Emry & Lila can sniff out free candy a mile away. I am sure tonight will more than make up for it.

Emry's friend passed down this costume to us and we just added some fake leaves and sparkle and voila, she's a nature fairy.  The cute red head is Madison, Emry's partner in crime.  Madison's mom worked for days sewing this Merida costume and finished just in time for Hallween.

Madison found a cool Merida costume online for $900 and of course that wasn't happening so Shannon (Madison's mom) had to take things into her own hands.  But by the end of the week which also included Madison's birthday party, another Halloween party, a lesson to prepare for church and the day to day of her other 3 children I told her the $900 costume probably wasn't a bad deal after all :)

This is a family in our ward who had the most awesome family costume, & ALL homemade, amazing.

The top I am wearing was actually Lila's costume from last year.  I couldn't get the tiny waist over my head so I just ripped the waistline and pinned it back together to fit, white trashy and just my style.  I just paired it with a hat I've had for a few years, some pants someone gave me and my own boots.  Ethan's costume is borrowed from a family in our ward who has 4 boys and love anything army related.

We have 3!!!!! more Halloween parties to attend tonight plus trick or treating.  The kids can hardly stand it.
Happy Haunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Loving all the costumes! Aww, I still love Halloween, but this makes me miss being a kid on Halloween! Plus I'll still put away my fair share of treats, but not quite with the same abandon as before :)

  3. Super fun!!! I love the homemade theme costumes. Marie, I couldn't believe how many young families had homemade themed costumes at our trunk or treat. It was crazy, I did the Wizard of Oz theme a few years back and that was all I could handle. Some guy in our ward said, "hey your family should be Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for Halloween next year." I thought,"yes that would be awesome, me Snow White, Kirk either the henchman or the Prince and the seven kids will be the dwarfs." As soon as Kalen heard this he says, "mom...I am not doing that." Dang it, he's just a tad too old for these "fun" things, these days. Oh well. You all look great. Love,

    1. Oh my gosh I hadn't even thought of that, that would be perfect...........if only Kalen were about 2 feet shorter right? After tonight I am ready to put all the costumes and decor away and gear up for the real holidays, you know baking and family and all. Love you

  4. How fun!!! We have NO trick or treaters. :( Not even the four kids next door! There are only six houses on our street, so the kids think its a waste of time when they can be dropped of a few blocks down and literally go door to door and get more loot.

Next year I want to visit your town! :D

  5. Awww so cute!!! It's been 4 years since I've stopped trick-or-treating (I only started when I was in grade 6 though) and I miss it! One day I'll be taking my lil' ones out for candy. Oh I remember the excitement of getting ready and how my mom would eat half of my candy!

    1. Oh your mom wasn't sly like me then. The trick is taking just a little each day so they don't know it's missing. Plus kids generally like the candy and are happy to give away most of the chocolate. Strange ones they are.

    1. I am tempted to ask my friend if we can keep the outfit. You'll for sure need to invest in some good army gear, Ethan wants to wear it ALL the time.

  12. You all look awesome and the people in your ward certainly did a bang up job of getting dressed up as well.

Hope you don't all go into a sugar coma from all of the trick or treating, but do enjoy it since it only comes once a year :)

  15. Wow!!
We don't celebrate Halloween this way, but we do celebrate Carnival in late winter (early spring) in a similar way and I think I'll come back to get some inspiration here! :)

  17. So unbelievably cute! I am impressed with all the creativity. We are not so creative on this end. I wore all black and thought about adding an orange scarf. But I got lazy! Ali and Maya were Ninjas and they looked cute, but nothing like you guys!

Hope you are having a great weekend!
