Christmas Spirit

This.  Is.  Awesomeness!!!!!  I know I go on & on ad nauseum about how horribly shy I was growing up, but the fact is I was.  Add a whole bunch of insecurity in the mix and you pretty much get a disaster waiting to happen.  That is why it thrills me to no end that my kids are nothing like me (or how I used to be anyway).

This getup, it kills me.  It's spirit week at Emry's Junior High and today is dress as your favorite Christmas character.  Emry picked a Christmas Tree.  As I was pinning her costume on it was really itching her but she said "It's worth it for the fame".  Hahahahahahaha, Oh, I guess she'll be famous after today :)

Her first class is P.E. and I tried to explain how she could take her outfit off but she said she'll just put her P.E. clothes on over it.  Um, okay.  That will be a sight to see.

The point is she's having fun and no one is going to get in the way of that.  Bravo Emry.  Bravo.

Here's some random Christmas spirit-y pics.  Obviously Glenn and Lila haven't had the Christmas spirit.  Either that or I've been lazy with the camera.

Also a fun tradition we've started this year is Elf on the Shelf.  I thought it was lame but Glenn came home with one and it's actually so much fun!  The kids can't wait to wake up every morning and find Tiny Buddy Ron.  That's his name.  The kids couldn't agree on a name so we used all their suggestions.  It works.

Emry and I made the hat above for Monday's spirit day.  As with the Christmas tree outfit everything was purchased at the thrift store.  The snowman on top of her hat actually bounced all around.   Good times.

Didn't take any pics of the mountains of caramel corn I made, probably too busy eating it.  We woke up one morning to find that Tiny Buddy Ron ruined my puzzle.  But that's okay because I need to get this house in order as my sister and her family arrive in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so ready for the BEST Christmas ever.  I will be surrounded by my kids, Glenn, my 2 sisters, parents, brother in law, nieces, nephews, possibly 2 of my brothers and Brutus.  Nothing Better.

  1. Seriously Marie, your blog makes me smile each and every time...what solid memories you're making with your children...that is so precious. I love seeing their smiling faces. Can't wait to have a reason to do Elf on the shelf, too =)

  2. I want some of what Ethan is having in that last shot (looks like chocolate and marshmallow). Looks like a good time has been had by all (we assume Glenn and Lila are enjoying themselves as well).

    Have a great day Marie!

  3. I love it! It is AWESOMENESS!! No I can't believe Christmas is basically here. Amazing. We are so excited to see our kids on the big day too. I sent out my cards two days ago, so maybe you'll get your card today? It seems like it takes three days to get down to you. Also, a heads up: I sent you a package and after sending it, I got into my car and in the backseat was part of your present! I know..lame, I can be so absent minded sometimes. So I went early this monrning and sent it to you. So, sorry about that. I'm excited for you to have your family come! It's going to be so fun. I can't wait for sister in law to get here. Like I said, "the most wonderful time of the year." :) It would be even more so if we were together, we'll be together in spirit..... Love you always,

  4. I like the Christmas tree getup. I'm a bit torn about Elf on the Shelf, but I have a year or two before we'd do it anyway.

  5. Such a blessing to have such a vibrant child! She will do great things! So fantastic!

I am so torn by Elf on the Shelf. Mostly, I think it's a wee bit creepy, but so many people love it, so that makes me want to revisit my opinions! I love that you put all the names together, so fun!

  8. This is our first year with and Elf too, and the girls LOVE it! Love Emry's Christmas tree costume. And I can totally relate ~ I was horribly shy growing up. And still have a lot of anxiety issues. Thank goodness my girls are nothing like me!

  11. That is an awesome costume! I don't think I would have been brave enough to wear anything like that to school when I was younger.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  21. Now that is a confident girl there, willing to go to school dressed up like a Christmas tree! :o) She looks like a lot of fun!

Tiny Buddy Ron sounds like one heck of a name for an elf. Have you seen that game floating around where you use your first initial and the month you were born to determine your elf name? I believe mine was Pepper Sparkletoes. :o)
